ASD Planetarium: 1999 Dieruff Academy Field Experience
FEBRUARY 12, 1999: LITTLE BOY ATOMIC BOMB, LOS ALAMOS
After spending the night observing at Star Hill Inn, we proceeded to Los Alamos. There we visited the Bradbury Science Museum, which chronicles the history of Los Alamos. It was at Los Alamos from 1943 to 1945 that scientists built the first atomic bomb. The national labs at Los Alamos now conducts research in everything from computing to genetics.
