Directions to the ASD Planetarium
Dieruff High School, Allentown, PA
- FROM ROUTE 22 -
- EAST/WESTBOUND ALONG UNION BOULEVARD -
- EASTBOUND ALONG HANOVER AVENUE -

- FROM ROUTE 22:
- Exit Airport Road southbound and proceed for about 1¼ miles to the Airport Rd--Union Blvd. Intersection. Continue straight across Union Blvd. The road now becomes North Irving Street. Continue downhill for 1½ blocks. The Dieruff H.S. campus will be ahead and to the left. The first side street, which marks the northern boundary of the campus, is East Cedar Street. Turn left onto East Cedar and proceed for a quarter block. The entrance to the Planetarium is here. The Planetarium can be seen as a tan cylinder projecting from the roof of Dieruff H.S. Off-street parking is available in the upper main faculty parking lot that parallels N. Irving St. and the front of Dieruff High School. Enter the lot from E. Washington St. and proceed to the top of the parking area which is closest to the Planetarium entrance.
- EAST/WESTBOUND ALONG UNION BOULEVARD:
- Proceed to the Airport Road intersection and turn RIGHT at the light if you are headed eastbound toward Bethlehem or LEFT if you are headed westbound toward center city Allentown. You will now be on North Irving Street. Continue downhill for 1½ blocks. The Dieruff High School campus will be ahead and to the left. The first side street, which marks the northern boundary of the campus, is East Cedar Street. Turn left onto East Cedar and proceed for a quarter block.
The entrance to the Planetarium is here. The Planetarium can be seen as a tan cylinder projecting from the roof of Dieruff H.S. Off-street parking is available in the upper main faculty parking lot that parallels N. Irving St. and the front of Dieruff High School. Enter the lot from E. Washington St. and proceed to the top of the parking area which is closest to the Planetarium entrance.
- EASTBOUND ALONG HANOVER AVENUE:
- Drive from center city Allentown, cross the Hamilton Street Bridge, and continue along Hanover Avenue to the fifth traffic light. Turn left onto North Irving Street towards Airport Road, and proceed downhill, past the Dieruff campus (on right). Turn right onto East Cedar Street which marks the northernmost boundary of the Dieruff campus. Look for a tan cylinder projecting from the roof of the school. That’s the dome support for the Planetarium. The Planetarium entrance is about 200 feet from the corner. Off-street parking is available in the upper main faculty parking lot that parallels N. Irving St. and the front of Dieruff High School. Enter the lot from E. Washington St. and proceed to the top of the parking area which is closest to the Planetarium entrance.
- NORTHBOUND FROM QUAKERTOWN:
- Travel north along Rt. 309 through Coopersburg and Center Valley. About three miles north of Center Valley, exit onto Rt. 145 just north of the I-78 Interchange. Take Rt. 145 over South Mountain and down into Allentown. Continue past Emaus Ave. at the base of South Mountain. The same road now becomes S. 4th St. You will pass a Burger King, and Shopping Center, both on your left. Continue past the intersection of Susquehanna St. and under a railroad overpass. The same road now becomes Basin St. See the map, center bottom for Basin St. Keep right, while the road curves and then crosses some more railroad tracks. Turn right onto Union St. at the first light. Proceed on Union over the Hamilton Street Bridge. You are now on Hanover Ave. At the fifth traffic light turn left onto N. Irving St. and proceed downhill for a two blocks, past the Dieruff campus, on your right. Turn right onto East Cedar St. which marks the northernmost boundary of the Dieruff campus. Look for a tan cylinder projecting from the roof of the school. That’s the dome support for the Planetarium. The Planetarium entrance is about 200 feet from the corner. - OFF STREET PARKING:
- Off street parking is available in front of Dieruff High School facing
North Irving Street. The upper portion of the lot borders East Cedar
Street and is very convenient to the Planetarium entrance.
